Statement of Faith
- We believe that marriage is vital to our nature as human beings in society and that God himself instituted marriage by creating and bringing the first man and woman together at the dawn of human creation (Gen 1:27; 2:18, 22, 23).
- We believe marriage should be held in high esteem since it is a symbol of the relationship between Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:25-32)
- We believe that the term ‘marriage’ has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Genesis 5:2, Matthew 19:5, Matthew 19:6)
- We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
- We believe that any form of sexual immorality, such as living together out of wedlock, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, child molestation, paedophilia, pornography, or any attempt to change one’s sex, or disagreement with one’s biological sex, is sinful and offensive to God.
- We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
- We believe that God intended marriage to be a permanent union whereby spouses are only separated by death but due to our humanity some of the marriages end in divorce. We encourage spouses in marriages that are in crisis to seek professional and spiritual counselling that may result in harmony and reconciliation before filing for divorce.
- We accept separation or divorce on the grounds of marital unfaithfulness (Genesis 2:24, Mathew 5:32; 19:5-9, 1 Corinthians 7:39). We are subject to prevailing laws of the country whereby divorce may be granted on grounds of irreconcilable differences or if a spouse has incurable mental illness or continuous unconsciousness with no prospects of regaining consciousness.
- We accept remarriage of legally divorced persons since it is better to marry than to burn with passion (1 Corinthians 7:9)
- We believe in a holy wedding/marriage ceremony witnessed by all, sanctioned by parents or guardians of both parties, solemnized and blessed by spiritual authority.
- We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the ministry as part of the Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the ministry members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by the ministry in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, should abide by and agree to this Statement on Marriage and Sexuality and conduct themselves accordingly.
