Statement of Faith
Our convictions about marriage, family and human sexuality, drawn from Scripture.

Marriage is vital to our nature as human beings in society. God himself instituted marriage by creating and bringing the first man and woman together at the dawn of creation (Gen 1:27; 2:18, 22, 23).

Marriage should be held in high esteem since it is a symbol of the relationship between Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:25–32).

The term 'marriage' has only one meaning — marriage sanctioned by God, joining one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union (Genesis 5:2; Matthew 19:5–6).

God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other, and has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of such a marriage.

Any form of sexual immorality — including cohabitation outside wedlock, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, child molestation, paedophilia, pornography, or any attempt to change one's biological sex — is sinful and offensive to God.

God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

God intended marriage to be a permanent union whereby spouses are only separated by death. Where a marriage is in crisis, we encourage spouses to seek professional and spiritual counselling that may result in harmony and reconciliation before filing for divorce.

We accept separation or divorce on the grounds of marital unfaithfulness (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 5:32; 19:5–9; 1 Corinthians 7:39). We are subject to the prevailing laws of the country, whereby divorce may also be granted on grounds of irreconcilable differences or where a spouse has incurable mental illness or continuous unconsciousness with no prospect of recovery.

We accept the remarriage of legally divorced persons, since it is better to marry than to burn with passion (1 Corinthians 7:9).
